    This session explores Kansas State University’s journey from concept to execution in launching a university-wide performance management process. Betsy Molinary and Maggi Denton share how the institution moved beyond theory to build practical framework that supports consistent feedback, goal-setting, and employee development across a diverse workforce.

    Drawing from their experience leading the initiative, Betsy and Maggi discuss foundational performance management practices, the importance of stakeholder engagement, and the strategies used to overcome common challenges such as resistance to change and inconsistent supervisory approaches. Attendees will walk away with actionable insights and key takeaways on building trust, fostering accountability, and making performance management a meaningful part of organizational culture.

    Maggi MB Denton serves as the Assistant Director of Employee Relations & Engagement and Deputy ADA Coordinator at Kansas State University. In this role, she leads key initiatives in labor relations, ADA compliance, and performance management. Maggi is a recognized subject matter expert in performance management, having played a central role in the design and implementation of Kansas State University's university-wide performance management process. Her leadership in this initiative has helped establish consistent standards for employee feedback, goal-setting, and professional development across departments and employee groups.

    With over eight years of progressive experience in human resources across medical, manufacturing, and higher education sectors, Maggi brings a broad and practical perspective to her work. She holds a master’s degree in human resources and is a

    certified ADA Coordinator. Maggi also provides specialized guidance on ADA compliance, supporting employees and departments in navigating accommodation processes and fostering inclusive practices. Her combined expertise in employee relations, labor relations, performance management, and ADA compliance positions her as a trusted advisor and leader in human resources at Kansas State University.

    Betsy Molinary is an Employee Relations & Engagement Senior Specialist at Kansas State University. Betsy brings a strategic and empathetic approach to fostering positive workplace relationships and cultivating a culture of engagement across the institution. Betsy serves as a trusted consultant to university leaders and employees, providing expert guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, workplace behavior, and policy interpretation.

    With a deep understanding of employment policies, organizational dynamics, and human behavior, Betsy mediates complex disputes, coaches supervisors on effective management techniques, and develops targeted training programs to strengthen leadership capability and organizational morale. She plays an active role in promoting safe, respectful, and inclusive work environments while ensuring fair and consistent resolution processes.

    Betsy holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology, providing a strong foundation for her work in employee engagement, leadership development, and workplace well-being.

    Dedicated to continuous improvement, Betsy manages data systems and analytics to identify trends and enhance ER&E’s strategic impact. Her work reflects Kansas State University’s mission to empower employees, strengthen community, and promote excellence through respect, collaboration, and accountability.
